Millennial Saving Tips

MILLENNIALS

Graduating from College or University. What do they need to do to start saving?

Seeing as this month is when most students are finishing up their final exams, and will start job hunting for other summer jobs or their career jobs, we can guide and direct the Millennials in our lives to start saving. Whether it be for the new school year or maybe a position of their own, once they have landed their dream job or for some students, returning to school next semester to pursue further studies (masters programs).

HOW CAN THEY START SAVING?

  • TFSA direct deposit each month
  • Find a part-time job and save some of the money they earn (as living at home expenses are most often low)
  • Spring closet cleaning, sell unused, or old clothes – ie. Plato’s Closet
  • Sell unused electronics to online marketplaces – ie. Ebay, Facebook Buy and Sell, Kijiji
  • Garage Sales will be around every corner soon! – set up a garage sale or a street sale
  • Buy and Flip certain items online to save up money on the side – ex. Garage Sale, Online
